1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the SQL Formatter website and all tools available on it, including the SQL Formatter, SQL Minifier, and SQL Diff Viewer (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you accept and agree to these Terms.
2. Description of Service
SQL Formatter is a free, browser-based tool that formats, beautifies, and minifies SQL queries. The Service is provided free of charge and without any requirement to create an account or provide personal information. All processing occurs locally in your browser.
3. Permitted Use
You may use the Service for both personal and commercial purposes, including:
- Formatting SQL queries for development, review, and documentation
- Minifying SQL for use in application code
- Comparing SQL query versions using the Diff viewer
- Sharing formatted queries with teammates via generated URLs
4. Prohibited Use
You agree not to:
- Attempt to disrupt, disable, or overload the Service or its infrastructure
- Use automated scripts or bots to scrape, crawl, or abuse the Service at scale
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or copy the proprietary portions of the Service
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law
5. Intellectual Property
The SQL Formatter website, including its design, layout, and original content, is owned by the SQL Formatter team. The core formatting engine is powered by the open-sourcesql-formatter library (MIT License) and the CodeMirror 6 editor framework (MIT License). Respective copyright notices are retained as required.
You retain all rights to any SQL queries you enter into the Service. We claim no ownership over your content.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, uninterrupted, or produce correct results for all SQL inputs. Output should be reviewed before use in production environments.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, SQL Formatter and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of — or inability to use — the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to use the Service in the past twelve months (which, given the Service is free, is zero).
8. Third-Party Links
The Service may contain links to third-party websites (such as GitHub). We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of service of any linked third-party site.
9. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the applicable courts.
